  • Secretary-General: Pepi Sison (II BS HSc)

Comelec officials started counting February 22, 9 pm. Office of Student Activities Director Pia Nazareno-Acevedo and Student Affairs Professional Georgina Ann Hernandez served as poll watchers in the overnight counting.

Before counting the votes, Comelec officers sealed the ballot boxes and left them untouched for an hour. “It’s to preserve the sanctity of the votes,” said Salud.

Comelec officers finished yesterday afternoon. As of 5:30 pm, they were verifying the votes for discrepancies.

Reactions

In an online interview, Castañar said he didn’t expect to lead in the partial results. “Lalong hindi ko ine-expect yung numbers …. kasi obviously, I’m an underdog.”

Salcedo said that she is excited to work with a new batch of officers for next school year.

On the other hand, Sison said, “I’d be happier if Ignacio wins with a sweep.”

“For now, let’s just wait for the final results and hope that the turnout would enable us to have the best people who’ll work for a strong Sanggunian on board,” she added.

  1. Ibanez Says:

  2. king echiverri Says:

    GO OMI!!

  3. jerome Says:

go omi! ibandila ang DS! :) congrats sa magiging official winners.

  4. Niji Says:

i think it’s because a lot of people wanted to vote for Omi…

  5. ana Says:

“mukhang ayaw ng mga tao kay Gab Perez.”

hindi naman sa ayaw. i think gab’s good naman. but if there’s a better alternative, why would i settle for someone other than that person who’s the better alternative, di ba?

go omi! d^_^b go ignacio! d^_^b

  6. The Bright Blue Light Says:

well I saw this coming, Omi came in strong and out of nowhere. Expected and calculated, his speech was enough to pull people in. His election tactics were different from both dominant parties making him stand out.

  7. Suresh Says:

Shooooooot…I was surprised with the results. I didn’t expect some of these people will win. :\
oh well…good luck to Sanggu next school year.

  8. gellocera Says:

kudos to The Guidon! ;D fast updates, and you’re really making the effort to reach out and inform the students about this political exercise in our campus… i hope The Guidon will also be there to be the students’ eyes as the elected officers make their platform happen

  9. liwanag Says:

    isn’t OMI Gadfly?

  10. concerned citizen Says:

    why aren’t dustin&bea in the top4? such a great loss for Sanggu…

  11. Named Says:

Omi is a strong contender, but can he really pull it off? I am not so confident in the top four of this year. Well, whatever happens, happens.

  12. JV Says:

i think natuwa mga tao kasi independent si OMI. un lang. i mean what a reason diba. naaliw lang.

we need gab. dunno why he didnt win. i heard nasty stuff about him pero i guess ung magagaling ang sinisiraan.

at ung kengkoy ang nanalo. honestly, we’re comfy giving the seat to someone with nada experience…

  13. Christa Uy Says:

Congrats to the Guidon for the fast updates, and to the COMELEC for counting really quickly.

  14. Bea Says:

YAY! Thank you to the Guidon for the fast update. :D

  15. watcher Says:

it’s “weird” how pepi sison was not present during the miting de avance and was still able to get votes. halos walang nanalo sa IA.. i’m not saying i’m for ignacio, but i guess i have to congratulate them. good job ignacio. looking forward to a good schoolyear next year! :) and to OMI, hope you do your best. BE PRESENT NEXT YEAR! :)

  16. Portia Silva Says:

Bilis!

Sanggu natin ‘to. :)

  17. The Bright Blue Light Says:

I agree on this day of rest on a 3 day break at that I want to thank guidon for the awesome work keep it up!

  18. sam Says:

Ang bilis ng Guidon c: nice job

Go omi ! Aasahan namin lahat ng sinabi mo nung campaign period !

  19. sheila Says:

“well I saw this coming, Omi came in strong and out of nowhere. Expected and calculated, his speech was enough to pull people in. His election tactics were different from both dominant parties making him stand out.” –> yep. VERY GOOD at marketing himself right? now i’m looking forward to how the new Sanggu will market itself (with OMI leading it) to make students more aware about it.

“i think natuwa mga tao kasi independent si OMI. un lang. i mean what a reason diba. naaliw lang.” –> that’s not the only reason.

“i heard nasty stuff about him pero i guess ung magagaling ang sinisiraan.” –> u think Ateneans are really like this?

“at ung kengkoy ang nanalo.”–> so what kung kengkoy? ikaw ata naninira e.

“honestly, we’re comfy giving the seat to someone with nada experience…” –> lets give everyone his/her chance to actualize his/her potential

everyone who’s running, i believe is good. but ATENEANS aim for the best.

    that’s why i chose OMI.

    nice guidon ^__^

  20. notsurprised Says:

“i think natuwa mga tao kasi independent si OMI. un lang. i mean what a reason diba. naaliw lang.”
    –> JV

i agree with this. nagstand-out talaga si Omi dahil kakaiba yung approach niya, and independent siya.

  21. okay lang Says:

Kwatro Kid si Omi. Matalino na, may passion pa. He deserves it.

  22. Ibanez Says:

ganyan talaga, may natatalo, may nananalo. mas lamang ang mga sistema people sa top 4. congrats to Omi. sana maging productive ang Sanggu next school year.

  23. patricia Says:

  24. Caaams Says:

    OMIOMIOMI!

  25. haha Says:

“i think natuwa mga tao kasi independent si OMI. un lang. i mean what a reason diba. naaliw lang.” -> bitter? JK =p

Thats not the reason why i voted him though, i considerd Jauro over him, pero he’ll get his chance next year. Kahit si Jauro nagsabi.
Sa tingin ko Omi would do a good job next year. Being in his 5th year, may advantage cya kasi nga dumaan na siya through 4 diff sanggu.. Plus comelec chair siya dapat this year before resigning, so meron talaga siya alam sa pagpapatakbo. And no, Omi isnt GADFLY.. he already said that during his campaign.

  26. haha Says:

:D (from my previous post)

  27. phoenix_down Says:

im not surprised that omi and ignacio will dominate the top positions. its not that gab perez isnt popular with the student body, but because omi really marketed himself well. i know gab perez and he really has good credentials (correct me if im wrong, but gab has been in the student government ever since he was grade school until high school). i just hope what omi vowed to do for his supporters are real and will be realized by the sanggu next year.

  28. atenista Says:

Nakakagulat yung results! Walang nakapasok from Ibig Agila! Siguro it’s because of their new strategy. Howell…I just hope that the new leaders of the Sanggunian would fulfill their duties well. Sana hindi mapako yung mga pangako nila.

  29. P5 Love Says:

    GO MOW!!!

  30. Waaah Says:

  32. oh yeah Says:

“i know gab perez and he really has good credentials (correct me if im wrong, but gab has been in the student government ever since he was grade school until high school).”
    –> phoenix_down

“we need gab. dunno why he didnt win. i heard nasty stuff about him pero i guess ung magagaling ang sinisiraan.”
    –> JV

didnt it ever occur to you that Omi might be the one we need? i dont think may siniraan si omi. can’t say the same for gab though. dont be a sore loser. Omi won fair and square.

Hindi tanga ang mga Atenista. we know how to vote.

  33. arahan Says:

    omi rules all

  34. reinzy Says:

  35. katugon Says:

OMI, galingan mo!

  36. missy Says:

    GO OMI!!!

JV: “i think natuwa mga tao kasi independent si OMI. un lang. i mean what a reason diba. naaliw lang. we need gab. dunno why he didnt win. i heard nasty stuff about him pero i guess ung magagaling ang sinisiraan. at ung kengkoy ang nanalo. honestly, we’re comfy giving the seat to someone with nada experience…”

i voted omi, NOT just because naaliw ako na independent siya. please do not generalize on things you could not possibly know. if omi won, hindi ba meaning nun magaling siya? o bakit si gab lang ang sinisiraan? and so what kung kengkoy si omi?

  37. ako Says:

haha. go OMI! make sanggu better! :D

  38. rayza Says:

It’s so sad that Dustin and Bea didn’t win. But go Omar!
I’ve always said people should give him a chance and I’m glad they did. It’s highly unfair to say that he won solely because he was a novelty since he was an independent. Look at Gov. Panlilio! MAYBE this is what the Sanggu needs…a new perspective since obviously something in the old and “experienced” system was NOT working. Yes I don’t dispute that most of the votes probably came because he was an independent and he was funny BUT I think more than that, it also shows how the student body, a bit disillusioned from the parties and the “usual suspects”, is waiting if someone outside the party system can shake things up and bring about the needed changes that the Ateneans deserve.

    P.S. I don’t think he’s Gadfly. Haha!

  39. rayza Says:

Good Job nga pala sa Guidon. Haha.

Last question, I’m really really curious. Is Bea a mom?! Wala lang. Kasi mejo confusing yung slogan nya nung Meeting de Avance. Yung “Tanging Ina” stuff. Not that I find anything wrong with being a mom ha! Wala lang. Curious lang talaga. Haha.

  40. gossipgirl Says:

Go Omi! I think he deserves the presidential seat. I can really see the passion to serve, lalo na when he had table-to-table caf campaigns. Napakahumble at napakaeloquent. Bravo. :)

  41. CHAI PUYOD Says:

    GO OMI!!! Congratulations!!!

  42. lostgirl Says:

:) let’s go for gold sanggu!

    -> oh yeah

and i really think dustin and bea are more deserving.. but its the votes that put people into office

  45. Bea Gomez Says:

    (1) Congratulations to Omi Castanar. We, the student body, are looking forward to the fulfillment of your promises and the action into your vision. With the help of the rest of the Sanggunian officers, hopefully.
(2)As for SOSS, what does the comelec or the sanggu intend to do about their chairperson? soss can’t move without a chairperson.
    (3) to rayza: i’m not exactly a mom - meaning, wala pa akong anak. but i am the one managing my household because both my parents work out-of-the country. so, in that sense, i am a mom. nevertheless, i don’t think that’s the reason some people didn’t vote for me. i want to believe that we, the students, know better especially with where, or with whom, we put our votes.
    (4) none of the top4 ibig agila candidates won, but rest assured that our plans for the sanggunian does not end in holding a position or office.
    (6) my heartfelt thanks to the 1324 people who put their trust in me. thank you for backing me up. together, let us keep an eye on our sanggunian. let’s not fail them, so they will not fail us. thank you especially to Lala and Rayza for believing i deserved the position. and yes, its the votes that put people into office.
    (7) Good job Guidon for a very updated site and deliver of news. I hope you continue this for the rest of the year - sanggu needs your back up.
    (8) congrats to comelec too for a very speedy count.
    (9) to mr castanar and the rest of the sanggunian officers, its high time for the sanggu to prove to us that you are worth our trust. its make or break for sanggu.
    (10) ANIMO ATENEO.

  46. Bea Gomez Says:

    http://awomansworth.multiply.com/journal/item/186/On_the_Results_of_the_General_Elections_2008.

  47. abstain Says:

first of all, good job Guidon and Comelec for the quick tallying :) most important of all, for the transparency. it’s good to see the breakdown of the votes.
second, Omi getting more than half of the votes is a clear indication that majority of the Ateneans trust him enough to let him lead Sanggu next school year, with or without ‘experience.’
third, with IA out of the race (at least that’s what it looks like), i just hope that the Ignacio candidates who are in the Top 4 are willing to support and work with Omi as their leader. is it just me or does it seem like Omi is closer to IA? anyway, the school will watch if they are indeed working on ‘improving the internal relations’ that they were campaigning for. lastly, it’s good that a lot of students exercised their right to vote this elections, but it would be better if we could lower the no. of the’abstain’ votes next time. baka kasi nag-abstain lang yung iba kasi hindi nakilala yung mga candidates. masakit matalo kay abstain. haha :)

  48. Blair Says:

Proving that you are worth the 2568 votes that you got is a year-long process, and I really do hope that you will serve the student body well.

Sayang sina Kim at Dustin.

Wag ganun. Set aside personal differences for the sake of the school and for the sake of your fellow students who elected you into power. You are accountable to THEM (those who elected you) and not to your party, always remember that.

Congratulations to all of the winners.
    WE WILL BE WATCHING YOU.

    xoxo,
    Blair

  49. question Says:

How many votes are not yet included in the partial results? Thanks.

  50. optimist Says:

I think Omi’s success cam be linked to Obama’s lead so far in the race for the democratic nomination in the US. Just like Obama, Omi inspired people with his words for change in the Sanggu. Like Obama, his relative lack of experience seemed to work in his advantage because people believe a faulty system needs to be changed from the outside. But the most striking similarity between Obama and Omi is the hope he put in people that Sanggu can once again mean something. I am one of the 2000 people that voted for Omi and I’m happy he won. I hope that I will not be let down and that he will truly live up to his words.

  51. joseph Says:

if this is final I sure hope we set aside party politics in Sanggu. Ignacio doesn’t exactly have a clean record of cooperating with non party members.

  52. GP Says:

    (9) to mr castanar and the rest of the sanggunian officers, its high time for the sanggu to prove to us that you are worth our trust. its make or break for sanggu.

Hahaha! Relax lang!

Congratulations, OMI and PARTIDO IGNACIO! Good luck to the new SANGGU and the rest of the ATENEO student body. :)

  53. Shin-chan Says:

Congratulations to Omi (I voted for him). It is a message that the people wanted change and they saw him as an agent of change. Lack of experience should be a non-issue for as long as you have the passion and the capability to do what you have to do then that would be a good precedent. What is experience if the system where it was based is not working? We need fresh ideas, not new ideas from a rotten system.

  54. tin Says:

Bakit ganon? Ano kaya ibig sabihin nito?

  55. N Says:

“Hindi tanga ang mga Atenista. we know how to vote. Nagiisip ang mga atenista. hindi tayo bumoboto dahil lamang naaliw tayo sa isang kandidato.” -oh yeah

haha what rock have you been living under. i know alot of stupid ateneans, and alot of stupid atenean voters who vote based on shallow shallow impressions. i would name them but that would be mean :D

  56. d Says:

Congratulations to the winners! Congratulations to Guidon for the constant updates! Congratulations to COMELEC for remaining cool throughout the constant useless criticism people threw! It’s not your fault that your inefficient head threw his towel in for a bigger position. Which people happily gave him.

  57. st. tyranosaurus Says:

@ohyeah, gab was the AGSCOM(ateneo grade school student council. i forgot what the C.O.M. stood for :p) president. and it was mainly because of my attribution to the experience i had as a student under his leadership that i didnt vote for him for sanggu president this year. personally speaking (PERSONALLY ha, PERSONALLY) i didnt like how he ran the grade school student government. mali pa yung depiction ng statue ni saint ignatius na pinatayo niya sa gradeschool assembly quadrangle :p

and, with regards to pepi sison’s comment, “Id be happier if ignacio wins with a sweep,” …how thick can you get?? i was right in voting for bea gomez.

  58. freshie Says:

    @ st. tyranoraurus
you’re right…PEPI SISON, simula pa lang ano na naman yang comment mo? SEESH…I was right in voting for bea too…and to dust…oh my such a great losss…:(

  59. Jose Says:

I don’t mind Omi winning. What pisses me off more is the fact that more than half of the student population let him. You know who you are. You’re no better than those who put Estrada in office. You are all easily swayed by passionate speeches of false nationalism because I know for a fact that not everyone who chose Omi voted for him after critically contemplating if whether or not he is really the man for the job.

Be that as it may, good luck the newly elected officials. May you see past your differences and work with a unified front.

  60. nag-tapon Says:

    To Omi’s naysayers…

“You’re no better than those who put Estrada in office. You are all easily swayed by passionate speeches of false nationalism..”
    - tis true that there might be some who voted him not for the right reasons, but do you really think that that’s the only reason why he got more than half the votes? i’ve known Omi since high school, and believe me, he deserves the win. And the 50+ percent votes? i’m telling you, those are real votes. i’d give the 5% for those who voted him just because he’s different, but the other 50% is deffinitely well thought of and not just due to being “swayed by the speech” as you put it.

“i think natuwa mga tao kasi independent si OMI. un lang. i mean what a reason diba. naaliw lang. we need gab. dunno why he didnt win. i heard nasty stuff about him pero i guess ung magagaling ang sinisiraan. at ung kengkoy ang nanalo. honestly, we’re comfy giving the seat to someone with nada experience…”
    - i don’t even know where to start..
    dahil naaliw lang?
    hehe. nakakaaliw ka naman.
we need gab? dunno why he didn’t win?
i’ll tell you why. it’s because more than half of the student body thinks that Omi is the better man for the job. and i’m telling you, he is. that’s why.
i guess yung magaling ang nasisiraan?
so true.. tingnan mo. may nagsasabi ngang yung kengkoy ang nanalo e. kundi pa ba naman paninira yun ewan ko nalang.
    nada experience?
like i’ve said, i’ve known this guy since high school, and he had a lot of experience way back then. and don’t you think being comelec chair is experience enough?

anyway.. to the non-believers, just wait till his reign begins, and you’ll believe soon enough..

  61. marc Says:

We aren’t voting for a national office. Credentials doesn’t count. It is good that more than half the population voted for Omi, it only means that they really and WILL really SUPPORT Omi and his proposed projects.

Jose may I ask what’s your idea of the ‘man for thew job”? Your idea might perhaps differ to everyone who voted. You’re not a God and you don’t know everything.

  62. Jose Says:

@ nag-tapon: “And the 50+ percent votes? i’m telling you, those are real votes.” I hope you’re right, my friend. Best wishes to Omi and to the rest of the Sanggu.

@ marc: “We aren’t voting for a national office. Credentials doesn’t count.” How is it any different? Just because we’re behind the ivory walls of Ateneo doesn’t necessarily mean this isn’t the REAL world. And about your question, my concept of the “man for the job” is beside the point. That is not the subject I am questioning. What I am putting into question are the reasons behind SOME people who voted for Omi. Omi was at the right place at the right time. Sanggu was in shambles and he capitalized on the people’s lack of trust on the said organization by marketing himself as someone who is devoid of any political scars with the use of passionate speeches. In so doing, many voters were swayed/inspired/bought. Obviously, I am not omniscient. I am just expressing my opinions about what I have heard from my friends and random people who I heard.

  63. AP Says:

Well, at least Abstain didn’t win in the top 4. That’s always good. But it’s shocking to see the huge discrepancy in the Abstain votes for President compared to the other top 4 positions. I guess Ateneans are tired of traditional politics in the school.

  64. Allan Says:

Sana lang next school year active pa rin kayo lahat.:)

  65. phoenix_down Says:

pepi sison’s comment was NOT appropriate. this just foreshadows how the ignacio people will work with omi. i regret voting for her. tama nga yung isang friend ko, she has smething wrong with her attitude.

i believe that the sanggunian’s actions and plans are all that remain in this scheme of things. i hope the sanggu does its job well, kahit na hindi brilliant at least maayos. remember that the sanggu is FOR THE STUDENTS. sumasangguni sa inyo ang mga mag-aaral ng ateneo. kung wala kami, wala kayo. walang pulitika, trabaho lang.

it would be sad to see bad politics in the sanggunian. especially with that comment of pepi sison. the sanggu will be no different to our present government.

  66. phoenix_down Says:

    government meaning the philippine government

  67. okay lang Says:

WHATEVERRR PEPI SISON. BEA GOMEZ HOULD HAVE WON

  68. Agatha Says:

What’s wrong with Pepi’s comment? I find it honest and heartfelt. It could just as easily been any of you that made that comment about a particular situation. Don’t make a big fuss out of it. Don’t question its appropriateness for there is no such thing as pure objectivity.

  69. Ibanez Says:

  70. Goat Says:

On the other hand, Sison said, “I’d be happier if Ignacio wins with a sweep.”

thats so gay dude! i’d rather that Omi or Jauro and Dustin and Bea and Kim won. i’m not saying i’m all IBIG AGILA. i’m just saying that i DONT like the KIND of people Ignacio is fielding.

to the winners, do your job well. i’m banking on The Guidon to SUPER VIGILANTLY WATCH both the good and bad things that ALL the Sanggu members from ALL parties, indep included.

presenting an oviously scripted/coached/edited/retaken/rehersed video to the student body? making 1/4 of the speach about how she’s so sorry that she picked her varsity over the Miting de Avance making it look good by saying she’s representing the school?to normal people it might look appealing but we’re not normal people. we’re ATNEANS.

the way Pepi presented herself in the Miting de Avance just proves the dedication she’s willing to give to the student body as the Sanggu SecGen. dude seryoso? magvolleyball ka nalang. if you’d be more willing to play than to attend the Miting de avance what more next year when there are Meetings twice or even thrice or more in a week?!

the way you acted just proves that you’d rather show up for your practice or game than to do minutes of the meetings and arrange files.

  71. yeppp Says:

    i agree with Agatha.
if you were in her position, you’d say that, too.
she’s just being true to herself.

    i agree with Ibanez too.
some friends of mine also voted abstain because they do not know the candidates.
nag-eeffort naman ang candidates to reach out to us, but the problem is, some students just dont care.

  72. rightbackatyou Says:

pepi’s comment reflects how she would work with non-party members of the sanggu, and it seems that she would not be happy working with non party members. it is honest, and it is true. thats why she would have to adjust to having omi around as their leader.

the big fuss about it is that this simple comment can reflect a negative working attitude with non-party members therefore can possibly lead in a unstable sanggunian.

  73. Jez Says:

Congratulations to The Guidon for a very good coverage of the elections. I hope they can also do a “Sanggu Watch” for the rest of the year :)

For the winners, my congratulations. Too bad lang Dustin didn’t win :c I know he has great plans for his last year in Sanggu. And i know he has the capacity to put those plans in action. I have worked with him for three years and I strongly believe he deserves the position.

But.. as I have always believed in: “Service does not require a title or a position”. Dust, and to everyone else who did not make it.. We all have great dreams for the Sanggunian, and we can still make them possible.

  74. Jez Says:

Pahabol: Congrats to Cza Recto! :) Woohoo! Spread the SOSE looove :)

  75. Mish Says:

“I’d be happier if Ignacio wins with a sweep.”

“For now, let’s just wait for the final results and hope that the turnout would enable us to have the best people who’ll work for a strong Sanggunian on board,” she added.
<- wag niyong putulin ung sinabi nya. i think when she said this comment, di pa tapos ung bilangan and she’s hoping na manalo rin mga kapartido nya. sino ba ang hindi gugustuhin na manalo ang kapartido nila diba?

  76. Ge Says:

    GO PEPI SISON!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  77. Sandra Says:

stop making a big deal out of stephanie sison’s comment. she made the comment BEFORE the partial results were out. she deserves to win and she will do great. so let it go:) go ignacio!

  78. Raf Says:

bakit ba? pag nanalo ang Ateneo volleyball, basketball, swimming, lahat na ng sports except soccer, hindi ba sasabihin din natin “sana na sweep ng ateneo or sana nanalo ang ateneo” hindi ba?? mag-isip muna kayo bago magsalita. intindihin niyong mabuti. it doesn’t reflect who pepi is.

  79. Ma. Anna Margarita V. Bueno Says:

Pepi Sison’s comment was made after she was asked on her reactions to the partial results.

  80. Mish Says:

there you go. PARTIAL RESULTS. meaning, di pa tapos lahat. you guys are over analyzing.

  81. Marwin Says:

stop making a big deal of pepi’s comment.

    stop judging, people

“the big fuss about it is that this simple comment can reflect a negative working attitude with non-party members therefore can possibly lead in a unstable sanggunian.” -rightbackatyou

this simple comment just shows how she is with her co-workers. :p

  82. letmelaugh Says:

i think that the failure of the last agila president certainly affected the student’s view of the party this year.
Ignacio was strong kasi they were so loud.
    Notice mo sila agad.
eh di man lang nagcampaign halos and agila.

    and OMI?
binoto siya dahil may guts siya,
and his posters may not look very attractive,
but they are honest and they inspire you to believe in the sanggu.

but hey, that’s just my opinion.
    :D

  83. Agatha Says:

to rightbackatyou: Of course she wouldn’t be happy to work with non-members of her party but does that mean she won’t work? I think not, my friend. I think not.

  84. abstain Says:

i’ll support pepi even if i didn’t vote for her because i think it’s the right thing to do if we want sanggu to improve. i just hope she’ll know what her top priority is, the varsity or sanggu. sana hindi mangyari madalas na mas pipiliin niya ang volleyball games over sanggu affairs gaya ng nangyari sa miting de avance. wala namang masama sa maraming commitments niya, kaya lang talaga, there will come a time when she would have to choose between the two. at sana hindi niya iwanan ang sanggu sa ere.

  85. OhNose Says:

What? what happened? Haha, I didn’t expect Omi to lead but it seems he’s quite the charmer as many would’ve said. Too bad for the others I really wanted to win that DO seem to have the potential. Well, in any case, good luck to all! It’s still anyone’s game.

  86. Ma. Anna Margarita V. Bueno Says:

Hello, just an additional clarification. All of the candidates’ reactions as stated in this article were made in context of the partial, unofficial results, and before the breakdown of votes was released.

The breakdown of votes is a later update to this article, as you will have noticed if you visit this site often.

    Thank you.

  87. Booyah Says:

Dapat nakikilahok at nakikialam tayo. Sabi nga ni OMI, “This is our Sanggu.”

  88. PLEDGE Says:

Here’s to hoping that Omi will live up to his promises. Mahirap maging hindi cynical.

Personally I don’t have faith in him. Im hoping he proves me wrong.

kung hindi. well malas nating lahat. haha. i will be the first to say i told you so!

    CYNIC!

  89. Yep Says:

Omi’s certainly a glib talker, but let’s hope he’s more than just talk. He marketed himself well but I’m really expecting that he sticks to his promises. I don’t have much confidence in the student body’s reasons for voting so I was kind of expecting him to lead, as he’s a refreshing change. A simple reason like that can actually sway a voter. In any case, I think that whoever wins deser–needs the full support of the student body to carry out his plans. Conflict or tension just because another doesn’t belong to his/her party only serves to bring down the whole Sanggu.

  90. z Says:

Oh please. Leave Pepi alone. A lot of you Ignacio detractors are like rabid dogs. You won’t leave the issue alone. Grow up, it can’t be that hard.

(Personally, I didn’t think much of Bea Gomez’ approach during avance).

  91. why? Says:

why monique salcedo? seryoso… sorry… pero i think if ever she will win, she’s got a lot of making up to do. not only sanggu-wise.. but character-wise.

  92. angge Says:

unang una, relax lang kayo sa comments ninyo about pepi sison.
first, she wasn’t there in the miting de avance since she had to maintain her scholarship. would you want to lose your scholarship kahit na ipapakita mo ang plataporma mo sa mga estudyante? sangutin ninyo iyan.
second, maraming di talagang nakakakilala kay pepi. may puso iyang batang iyan ever since first year. her reaction must be natural ‘di ba? partido ignacio has a tight bond at sa totoo lang di mo naman papayagan na mag-iwanan ang mga tao ‘di ba?
looking at her comment, i know that she will do her best in strengthening the Sanggunian more. all we have got to do is believe and stop bickering so negatively.

  93. Ibanez Says:

    ok, sasangutin ko

  94. Torino Says:

Character schmarachter. Hitler had character and so did Gandhi. Both of them were great men who did great things in our time.

  95. nag-tapon Says:

“Personally I don’t have faith in him. Im hoping he proves me wrong..”
-oh he will.. he will.. and you will have faith soon enough..
“Pero naiisip ko talaga na andami niyang naloko..”
-naloko? eh di sinasabi mo na agad na panloloko lang ang ginagawa nya? hindi panloloko yun. panghihikayat lang yun. dahil wala namang kalokohan sa pinagsasabi nya..

  96. jojo Says:

“naaliw lang?” you are insulting all of those who voted for OMI. I’m pretty sure that people voted for him because they saw something in what he said. Campaign is not a form of Entertainment. You are implying that the people who voted for him are cheap and stupid.

  97. angge Says:

what is wrong with monique salcedo?

i’ve known her for a year. at alam ko namang may magagawa siya… i know her character and i know she will bring back the sanggunian to us naman…

why do you people doubt too much? give them a chance. kakatapos lang ng elections tas tuloy tuloy nang ninyo silang linalaitan.

let us just watch them work this coming school year.

    again, RELAX GUYS.

  98. AP Says:

LET THEM WORK FIRST. See what sanggu 08-09 can do.

  99. .........(^^,) Says:

omi had a nice platform… i like what he said about being in sanggu… i hope he means it…
as for p. ignacio… congrats… i vted for them though i didn’t really know their plans for the student body…

  100. Torino Says:

@ jojo: “Campaign is not a form of Entertainment. You are implying that the people who voted for him are cheap and stupid.” Uhh… dude, please don’t patronize us with this statement. It’s insulting. We’re old enough to know that not all voters are well-equipped with an ability to discern or choose not to do so. To be fair, it just doesn’t apply to Omi’s voters but the whole voting population in general. Maraming nadadala lang. Maraming gusto lang manggulo. Maraming check lang ng check sa ballot just for the sake of voting. So please, don’t patronize us.

  101. Biboy Says:

Bakit sobrang benta ang Ignacio? I’m not insulting them, but I don’t understand why it’s so easy for them to win majority of our Sanggu seats without as much as a wave of a finger.

  102. the real slim shady Says:

haha, ang daming nadala sa daldal ni omi. kawawa ka naman, sanggu. sana masalo nina mon, pepi at westin ang kalokohan na binoto ng 2,000+ bilang pangulo. binasa niyo ba yung mga plataporma nila, even? naaawa ako sa mga bumoto kay omi. humihirit pa ng obama diyan. hahahaha!

  103. marc Says:

Monique Salcedo’s good! The thing is, she has the tendency to focus only on a certain group rather than the whole population.

She’s our TNT and she’s only with one group.

I have nothing against her, but she needs to be “for the masses” sort of person.

  104. Ibanez Says:

to the fake real slim shady, I believe in Omi. 15.82% lang kasi si Gab kaya ka sour grape.

  105. marc Says:

slim shady, you mean to say, none of the 2500++ students who voted for Omi read Partido Ignacio’s platform? Count me out then.
And biruin mo Agila na nga lang at Abstain ang kalaban nila hindi pa nakaabot nang more than 50%.
He is not Obama. (jeez how I hate that guy!)

  106. grabe na to! Says:

Sanggu is not Omi’s alone. It’s ours.

  107. grabe na to! Says:

Ha????

  108. the real slim shady Says:

marc: by “nila” i meant everyone’s platforms, not just ignacio’s. and this is off-topic but i’m curious, why do you hate obama?

  109. the real slim shady Says:

at kay ibanez nga pala: hindi ko rin naman binoto si gab e.

  110. Torino Says:

    Smoke na lang tayo.
